While there were frustrations about certain aspects of things this training, there were a couple of significant positive takeaways.
My last match in charge saw a lot of things click for the team, leading them to their first win of the season and revenge for their opening-day loss.
Unfortunately, it was one of our shorter training slots for this session before our next match, so game play was strongly featured.
It was our best match of the season so far, and we definitely had our chances, but the team doesn't yet know how to win.
Missing bodies forced me to go with a more general training than I would have liked to do the day before a league match.
The training focus this session was on two related concepts - getting rid of one-arm digs and passes and being more focused on non-setter second balls.
A day of competition for both parts of the squad saw the first team play poorly, but the second team earn a pair of surprisingly dominant victories.
A short-handed situation saw a lot of focus on the second team ahead of their first set of league matches coming on Sunday.
The first chance to field the starters all together offered up a number of positives and some stuff that needs work.
