I wrote previously about how I started doing a Coaching Conversation series when COVID-19 driven stay-at-home orders starting taking effect in much of the world. Something else actually spun off out of that, which is proving quite interesting.
MasterCoaches Wednesday Weekly Buzz.
I also had all four of them on for the Conversation series to talk about Preparing for the Upcoming Season (Brian & Mick), Staying Connected with your Team (Bob), and Strategies for Player and Team Development in this Environment (Ruth with fellow Wizard Ryan Mitchell).
After I did those sessions, Mick had a thought. He thought it would be a good idea to do a weekly 30-minute conversation on current events. The five of us talked it over and decided to go for it. So now I’m hosting a session each Wednesday where we have someone on to talk about what’s happening in the volleyball world. They stream live via my Facebook page.
Our first guest was Kathy DeBoer from the AVCA. She came on to tell us what was happening with the NCAA and share her thoughts on what the upcoming Fall season might look like. Here’s the recording.
John Speraw, head coach of the USA and UCLA men’s teams, was our second guest. He told us what he’s seeing and hearing on the men’s side of the game at both the international and college level. That video is here.
This week we have Dave Shoji scheduled. He’s the former women’s coach at the University of Hawaii. You may have seen my post about the new women’s pro venture USA Volleyball recently announced. Well, it turns out that’s not the only women’s pro concept in the works. Dave will be telling us about the one he’s involved with. Here’s the event on FB with the details.
We already have guests lined up for the next couple of weeks, so make sure you follow either my social media accounts or those for MasterCoaches to stay updated. As well as my Facebook page linked above, there is also my Twitter feed. You can find MasterCoaches on Facebook, as well as on Twitter.
