After a day of meetings that cleared up some line-up questions, ball-handling was the major theme of this training session.
The first training session of the year focused on blocking movement, serving and passing - and on starting to develop the gym atmosphere I want.
A good session in which I was able to work on several key focus points I've identified of late unfortunately ended with an injury.
This is an entry in my volleyball coaching log. Generally a pretty good day's performance. The second team won both their division 2 matches, which likely means they will end 2nd
Getting your blockers to point their thumbs up can help them put up a bigger block and get a bit more reach and penetration by extending their arms and shrugging.
This basic blocking drill is good for working on footwork and can be easily inserted into a warm-up routine to ensure players are getting consistent work.
