The scramble volleyball game or drill is one which is quite useful for working on out-of-system play and getting players committed to keeping the ball in play
A reader asks a question about handling a situation where your only setters are the two you use to run a 6-2 system and how to handle that during training 6v6.
The opportunity for a little longer session allowed me to push the team to the point of having to fight through the fatigue. Frustrating at times, but needed.
This training was all about working the starting team ahead of an expected match in a couple days, so 6s play was a strong feature. Not a great session, though.
I used the last proper training session of the term to start working on something new and to take notes on particular areas I'll need to have in focus come January.
You can use the virus volleyball game to work out-of-system play on one hand and on recognition of it and proper defensive positioning for it on the other.
This is a volleyball game which can be useful to assess the competitiveness of players and their relative game play effectiveness, potentially in a try-out.
Here's a game I saw at UCLA which works on hitters challenging the block, with additional serve receive and free ball attacking
