Podcast 10 – DataVolley training with Jeff Liu

In this episode Jeff Liu joins me and my assistant coaches to talk DataVolley. Jeff is currently an assistant coach at Grand Canyon University as well as Technical Coordinator for the USA Women’s National Team. He, along with Joe Trinsey, developed a Data Volley training manual titled The Unoffical Guide to DataVolley4 Mastery (which doesn’t seem to be available anymore).

We’re looking at incorporating DataVolley into our analytical and scouting work for the Medaille College programs. In this discussion, Jeff gives us some instruction and coaching on getting that started.

At one point in the discussion we mention Ben Raymond and the analytics apps he has worked with others to develop. Ben joined myself and Mark Lebedew on one of the early Coaching Conversations to discuss those apps. You can find that talk here.

His 20+ years of volleyball coaching experience includes all three NCAA divisions, plus Junior College, in the US; university and club teams in the UK; professional coaching in Sweden; and both coaching and club management at the Juniors level. He's also been a visiting coach at national team, professional club, and juniors programs in several countries.
