Playing for each other

Anson Dorrance is the long-time former head coach of the University of North Carolina women’s soccer team. Under his guidance, the program won more than 20 national championships. I read his book Training Soccer Champions back in the very early days of my coaching career. Needless to say, I think he’s worth listening to any time you get a chance to hear him talk.

Here’s a video of Anson talking about getting players to play together by giving them a common focus. Warning: Anson shares a couple of touching stories, so you may need a hankie. 🙂
