Alexis at Coaches Corner offered up an article asking about the difference between hard work and competitiveness. That brought up something that I’ve wondered and pondered for a while.

What exactly is competitiveness? Does it mean different things for different people? Or does it always come down to winning against one or more other individuals/teams in some form of contest?

A dictionary definition is “possession of a strong desire to be more successful than others.” Can you also be competitive when it comes to yourself, though?
