This is an entry in my volleyball coaching log for the 2020-21 season.

Season honors

We put two guys on the AMCC All-Conference team – one each 1st and 2nd. Honestly, I was disappointed by that as I thought we legitimately had at least 3 guys who deserved to be there. I felt like we had a legit Player of the Year candidate, and I also felt like I was a real candidate for Coach of the Year. We didn’t get either of those, however. Can’t help but wonder how much having the plug pulled on the season before we could at least play our last regular season match hurt us in the awards voting.

Still, Medaille hasn’t had two guys get All-Conference since 2018 and hasn’t seen one get 1st Team since 2017. Kind of fits generally with having our best season since 2016.

Looking ahead

Now it’s full-on recruiting. We still have spots to fill for 2021. At the same time, we have to start ramping up work on the 2022 incoming class. That’s a lot of evaluations and communications!
