As I mentioned in my latest weekly newsletter, I’ll be heading back to the AVCA Convention once more this week. It’s the 5th convention for me since I started this blog in 2013, with all of them in-person aside from 2020’s virtual convention. In each prior case I journaled my experiences for each day. If you want to go back and read them, I have the links down below.

I know for sure I’ll be doing some content from the convention again this year. Just not quite sure yet what form that will take. I have permission to do some recording/streaming while I’m there (so long as it doesn’t include seminar material), so look for a bit of that.

I am rooming with an English coach I know who’s attending his first Convention (having recently moved to the US). That strikes me as providing a really good opportunity to get some interesting material. Another coach joked to me, “the English guy will lose his sh#t.” LOL

So keep an eye on the Facebook page for some video content from Columbus during the event.

As for what I’m doing, no doubt it will be a mixed bag. David Gil from VERT invited me to a dinner Wednesday night with some other coaches. Long-time followers will remember David from a pair of podcast episodes (here and here). He also featured in some of my Coaching Conversations (here, here, and here).

I was also invited by NCSA to take part in a recruiting panel discussion with some other college coaches. It’s for parents of the kids attending the Talent Showcase.

Beyond that, I have a bunch of seminars marked to attend. I know from experience, though, things can change there. And, of course, there are social events as well.

Stay tuned to see how it all goes!

These links go to the first day’s journal entry. You can click through to subsequent days from there.

During last year’s Virtual Convention, I also did a nightly live stream to talk about the day’s activities, featuring some guests along the way: Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4.
