As many readers know, I have a side project called Volleyball Coaching Wizards. In a nutshell, Wizards is about interviewing great coaches from all levels and all around the world and sharing their wisdom and experience. Thus far we’ve published two books, plus a translation of the second.

We’re about to make it a third.

Volleyball Coaching Wizards - Wizard Women cover

A while back I came up with the idea of doing an interview series under the Wizards umbrella focused only on women coaches. That’s women who are volleyball coaches, not coaches of women. There’s been some confusion at times. lol

Anyway, I also thought it would be best to have a female coach do the interviews rather than continuing with my partner Mark Lebedew and I doing them. Neither of us our women, so we can’t really ever relate to some of the things women coaches go through in their careers. So the idea became interviews of women coaches, by a woman coach, for women coaches.

Lauren Bertolacci agreed to take on doing the interviews. You may have seen Lauren in a couple of the Coaching Conversations I did in 2020. She’s a professional coach in Switzerland – one of the few women at that level in Europe. She’s also an assistant coach for the Canadian Women’s National Team.

Lauren did her first batch of interviews, which I’m in the process of editing. They will make up what intend to be just the first book in a new Wizard Women series.

Look for it to be available soon!
